Description

AeroRacers proudly presents its new rubber band powered model surface submarine(R), the USS Batfish, SS-310!

Our 17.5 inch (44.5 cm) long USS Batfish is a working sport scale (1:215) replica of the original US NAVY WW2 submarine that is currently on display at the Muskogee war museum in Oklahoma. Our boat deck simulates real deck details found on the original submarine.  The conning tower features the boat number on both sides and features details like the forward facing machine gun as well as the light cannon facing rearward.  Further aft on the deck you find the deck gun.  A nice finishing touch is the installation of the antenna wires.

This submarine looks awesome in or out of the water.  A special “anchor” stand sporting the USS Batfish name is included in the kit.  This anchor stand allows you to display your sub on a desk or simply hang it on a wall.  You can finish your submarine with paint, felt tip pens or just sail it unpainted. Either way it will look great.

A fully wound USS Batfish will run in your pool, pond, or lake at scale surface speed for over 5 minutes.  An oversized dive plane system (patent pending) keeps the sub upright.  You can sail your surface sub many times without the need for batteries.  Simply wind the rubber band again and again.

The USS Batfish is very easy to build.  No prior building experience is necessary.  All parts are made of wood and pre-cut for easy assembly.  All you need to do is glue it together with waterproof glue, no tools are required.  AeroRacers recommends super glue for faster assembly.

The AeroRacers USS Batfish also sports an adjustable rudder for directional control.

The kit contains all necessary pre-cut wood parts to build the sub and the anchor stand, rubber string, pusher propeller assembly as well as string for the antennas are included. Step by step assembly and operating instructions are provided in each kit.  The left hand side of the hull sports the hull number (310) as well as the anchor outline for added details.

The USS Batfish is the perfect project for you and the kids or grandkids.  It is an educational hands-on, brains-on project that would be a great in the classroom or at home.   You will learn about Newton’s third law while building and operating your sub and get the satisfaction of a job well done when you see it glide effortlessly through the water.

Our new PropDiver USS Lionfish can dive, run on the surface and is a hoot to play with. Swim along, dive after it, shoot cool underwater pics or try to have your sub stay under for over 5 minutes. This Lionfish is rubber band powered and runs for minutes at a time on the surface or under. You can wind your submarine over and over again at no cost. Simply wind the rubber band motor by turning the propeller backwards and it is ready for another mission. It can go straight, left and right.

How our PropDiver submarine works: The Bowfin floats on the water as it is made from wood. To dive or submerge, there is a series of ballast chambers that need to be filled with weights. The weights used are pennies. Everybody has pennies laying around. It takes a maximum of 18 pennies to dive and stay submerged. The Bowfin will resurface at the end of the submerged run. You can adjust the angle of dive for deep dives or stay in the shallow water by playing with the amount and location of the pennies. Pennies (18 needed) are not included.

The PropDiver USS Lionfish is very easy to build. All parts are laser-cut for accuracy and the body lines are etched into it so it can be accurately colored if desired. No glue, no waterproofing, no sanding, no paint, no tool is ever needed. The Lionfish simply snaps together. Any eight year old can do it. There a couple of “simple machines” included to help snap the rivets in place. You cannot build it wrong. The submarine assembles in minutes. You can decorate it with permanent markers as they look great both in and out of the water. All of our pictures are shot of a production Lionfish colored with permanent markers (we recommend Sharpies “Sharpie is a registered trademark of Sharpies Inc.”). Detail lines prevent the ink from running and makes for a clean edge when coloring, making your sub look great. The Lionfish can be decorated before you build it, or after you built and played with it. All parts of the submarine can be decorated, including the screws and the propeller.

The PropDiver USS Lionfish is driven by a large, very slow spinning propeller. This makes it possible for the submarine to stay submerged for over 5 minutes. We have recorded dive times in excess of 10 minutes. Shoot some underwater pics and amaze your friends.

You will receive all the laser-cut wood parts necessary to build your submarine as well as a contest rubber loop motor along with a high performance pusher propeller. All the small parts are included as well. A very detailed instruction sheet is provided that will guide you through the assembly process. Instructions on how to adjust for dive or have your sub swim on the surface are included along with tips. Pennies required for dive are not included.

PropDiver USS Lionfish overall length: 13.5 inches or 34 cm
