The Sail Racer is easy to assemble and a lot of fun to run outside as the wind powers the racers across any fairly smooth surface. They can also be run indoors in gutters with the students blowing on the sails to move the car forward. The Sail Racer can also be used as a gravity racer. The sail automatically adjusts to the current wind direction!
The 6″ long Sail Racer is of stick-together design and can be assembled in a very short time. Students cut out the paper sails (all straight cuts) with blunt scissors. The sails come with the mast holes pre-drilled. Al. Students can individualize their racers with felt tip pens or crayons. The kit contains a pre-drilled balsawood body, hardwood wheels with O-rings, paper sail, one mast and all axles / tubes. Teacher assembly instructions are included. Racing ideas are provided as well.
Sails feature a variety of animal designs such as cat, dog, bunny and turtle.
